PhD candidate Ranjitha Shivaram and Prof. Azevedo have recently published in Environmental Research Letters research showing the effect of COVID-19 pandemic across the consumptive patterns of people in the United States using a survey instrument that elicited perceived changes in household consumption of energy, water, information, and communication technology (ICT) services, transportation, and grocery and non-grocery shopping. Importantly, households reported sharp increases in work-related ICT usage for medium- and high-income respondents, and increased ICT usage for recreation and entertainment across all income categories during the pandemic.
